ITINERARY

Good to know

How is the story created and how is it told through the wineries visited each day.

The theme given to your trip is “Explore Cyprus’ Terroir” and that is what we will do. I strive to provide a broad overview of Cyprus’ ancient wine making culture. We will focus on the microclimate and soils of ‘Limassol Wine Villages‘ region. We will also take a sneak peek at neighboring regions of Pitsilia (east) and Diarizos Valley (west). The altitude element and its contribution to the quality of wines is becoming a common argument among our producers. Therefore, I’ve included in our tastings wines produced from single vineyards at the highest altitude as well as from more moderate elevations. We will also taste wines produced as blends created to correct weaknesses and limitations of certain grapes and terroir.

Each producer has his/her unique philosophy and wine making style. A very wise popular proverb of Cyprus says: “the man is the flesh of the place – the place is empty”, which means that the place, the country, the homeland is made by its people. Without them there is no place. With this in mind I chose to visit wineries known for the typicity of their end product as well as wineries owned by established vine growers for generations.

Our theme is broken down to six stories to be told through the wine tasting flights at each winery.

Cyprus Wine Profile
There are six wines to taste at the first winery chosen for their varietal composition of indigenous and international grape varieties and their clean and straight forward profile that can best demonstrate the range of aromas and flavors of Cyprus wine: citrus and tropical fruit, herbs and flowers, red and black berries, ripe fruit, vanilla, sweet spice …. All there for you to experience.

Terroir Expressions
At the second winery you will taste five unique wines produced with focus on the diversity of terroir and its influence on local and international grapes.

Indigenous Varieties at High Altitude
Moving higher on Troodos Mountain the next winery is chosen for its vineyards located at high altitude and the influence of the mountainous terroir to indigenous grape varieties. We will taste 5 wines, the traditional distilled Zivania and the Cyprus Sweet Pride Commandaria.

Friday’s Food and Wine dinner Further up Troodos mountains, High elevation, international varieties.

Saturday Dinner Wines Further West

If we had the time after Diarizos Valley it would be nice to visit the next region to  the West which is

What we will be eating, when and why.

All of our tastings at the wineries will be accompanied by platers of matching local delicacies, cheese and cold cuts. The main purpose is to enhance your tasting experience with selected delicacies suggested by each producer. Where necessary the platters will be enriched in quantity to help us skip a restaurant visit for lunch.

We will be dining at a fine restaurant at the end of each day tour. On Friday we will visit Fat Fish restaurant which is located on the premises of the Limassol Nautical Club by the beach. We will enjoy a sequence of local dishes and seafood paired with wines from Kyperounta Winery. The restaurant is long established in the oeno-gastronomic scene of the island, operated by a group of industry professionals 2 chefs and 2 sommeliers.

On Saturday evening we will dine in the cozy garden at Dyonisos Mansion restaurant and enjoy a selection of Mediterranean dishes with a modern twist. The meal will be matched with a selection of wines by Vouni Panayia Winery.

Host an in-office wine tasting event

In-Office Wine Tasting Events

An in-office tasting event typically features an introduction to tasting techniques, followed by a tasting of five wines, with the ‘flavor tasting kit’ that includes sweet, salty, bitter, and acidic nibbles, along with crusts for calibration of your palette. The session lasts 1.5 to 2 hours and focuses on a guided, interactive, and enjoyable sensory experience, tailored to your needs!

A broad idea of how an event works is as follows:

  • Welcome drink
  • Short introduction from your host explaining how the evening will work.
  • Introduction to wine tasting technique (with wine of course!).
  • Putting our new knowledge to practice by sampling a number of other wines, we generally think five is a good number, but we can do more or fewer!
  • Your sommelier host rounds off the event, awarding prizes to any winners if a competitive element is included (generally the less knowledge people have the more likely they are to win!).
  • Guests continue with informal drinks/food as agreed with client.

Set-up & Tidy-up

We usually arrive a couple of hours before a corporate event start time to unload our equipment, set up the room and make sure we have met the client and understand any last-minute requirements. We clear away everything we have brought at the end of the event, and are usually out of the building within an hour or so. We can of course provide additional wine for pre- or post-event drinks.
