🍷 My Next Exciting Adventures in Platres
I’ve snagged a new gig as the All-About-Wine Guy with the George Tsanos Group in Platres, a charming mountain village that’s currently on an epic makeover journey. This role gives me the chance to sprinkle some magic on the revival of Platres, mixing its rich history with a splash of modern flair!
Why Platres?
Platres has always held a special place in my heart. My father was born there in 1944, before moving to Limassol when he reached school age. Growing up, our family — like many others — would return to Platres every summer. From the mid-70s to the mid-80s, it was common for Limassolians to rent homes in the village for the school holidays. The cool Troodos air offered a break from the coastal heat — but there was more to it than that.
After the Turkish invasion of 1974, summer took on a different meaning for many Cypriots. It became a season of unease, of memories and loss. The mountains felt safer — calmer — away from the tension and uncertainty of the towns. For us, Platres became a sanctuary. We’d stay in the same house with our cousins, playing all day in the village and exploring the forest like it was our own.
Being part of Platres’ revival today feels like more than just a professional step — it’s a personal return to a place full of history, healing, and meaning.
What’s My Role?
I’ve joined the GT Group as the Wine Guy, all set to sprinkle some fun on the wine scene at their awesome spots in Platres. My mission? To create wine programs for their dining hangouts that highlight our Cypriot roots while mixing in some global vibes.
A major part of my gig is hosting cool tastings and culinary adventures — diving into the fascinating stories, rich history, and quirky details of wines from Cyprus and beyond. I’ll be collaborating with local producers, chefs, and creative minds to make sure each experience is delicious, memorable, and full of personality.
It’s a fantastic chance to mix storytelling, flavor, and a sense of place — in a lovely village that’s already near and dear to me.
What This Means for My Experiences
From June 2025, things will shift a little on my end. I’ll still be hosting, storytelling, cooking, and pouring wine — just with a slightly different rhythm.
Some of my Airbnb and private experiences will have limited availability, especially during the launch phase in Platres. A few might relocate to the new venue, and others may be paused or rescheduled depending on the season and flow. I’ll also be less flexible with last-minute requests or custom sessions, at least for a while.
If you’re planning a visit, don’t hesitate to reach out early — I’d love to make it happen if we can. Your continued support means the world as I step into this new chapter.
Corporate Retreats & Team-Building? Still Going Strong!
If you’ve joined me before for a team-building or corporate experience — good news: those aren’t going anywhere. In fact, they’re about to level up!
With my new base in Platres, I’ll now have access to dedicated corporate facilities at Hotel Pendeli. It has undergone significant renovations, now featuring a dedicated floor for modern corporate events and conferences. With two meeting rooms accommodating up to 130 attendees and a total event space of 193 square meters, it’s perfectly equipped for business meetings, seminars, and celebrations. The tranquil mountain setting complements the professional atmosphere, making it ideal for productive gatherings.
Meanwhile, Petit Palais Hotel offers a boutique retreat experience, ideal for smaller teams seeking a blend of work and relaxation. The hotel provides facilities for private events, corporate accommodations, and team-building retreats, all set against the serene backdrop of the Troodos Mountains. Amenities include a sauna, and proximity to a fully renovated sports and recreation center, ensuring a balanced mix of business and leisure.
I’m excited to leverage these enhanced venues to deliver memorable and impactful corporate experiences. If you’re considering a corporate retreat or team-building event, let’s connect and craft something exceptional together.
