A pleasant journey among lush green growth, part of the European Network of Protected Areas Natura 2000, begins on leaving the community. In almost all its entirety, the trail offers spectacular views and at times crosses over places of special interest as well as beautiful expanses of trees, especially along the riverside.
Morning Hikes of the Ezousa River Nature Trail of 3 hours are proposed several times a week during high season; we start at 7:30 am from the Environmental Centre in Episkopi, Moro Nero, Paphos.
A small distance from the starting point is the renowned ‘Rock of Episkopi’ also known as the Meteora of Cyprus. The local church devoted to St. Ilarion is built on top of the 70meter tall rock. The view of Ezousa Valley from this particular point is especially impressive.
While walking the trail one will come across the ruins of the abandoned medieval village of Moro Nero as well as the ancient church devoted to Saint Gennadios.
On the way to the river, there are also old water mills and stone ditches which testify the existence of inhabitants in the area over the centuries. The picnic area, which is by the riverside, is an exceptional place for rest and relaxation.
