Corporate Events > Team Building > Google Offsite Mystery Wine Game
Here’s what you need to know:
The Challenge: Put your senses to the test! You’ll be presented with a glass of white wine of unknown origin (the “mystery wine”). Then, you’ll taste four additional wines, one of which is identical to the mystery wine.
Your Mission: Using your taste buds, smell, and any acquired wine knowledge, identify the imposter! Discuss your observations with your teammates, share insights, and make those educated guesses.
The Reward: Bragging rights and a deeper appreciation for the unique flavors Cypriot wines have to offer!
– Don’t arrive hungry! Have a light lunch and a snack about 30 minutes before your wine tasting.
– Avoid coffee or any distractions before the tasting; they could mess with your taste buds!
– Stay hydrated by drinking water throughout the day leading up to your tasting.
– Dress comfortably, skip whites, and enjoy every sip: Leave perfumes and lipsticks at home for this.
– Bring your questions and a big smile, and get ready to explore the amazing world of wine!
Don’t worry if you’re not a wine expert! Just come with an open mind and a sense of adventure.
Pay attention to the aromas and flavors. Swirl, sniff, and savor each sip.
Discuss your findings with your teammates. Two heads are better than one!
Let’s Google the wine lables
Each letter of GOOGLE guides you to a key detail hidden on the bottle’s label.
G → Geography
Where is the winery located? Mountains, valleys, or coastal vineyards? Place shapes the wine’s identity.
O → Origin (PGI/PDO)
Look for the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) or Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). This tells you the official wine region.
O → Old (Vintage)
Check the vintage year — the year the grapes were harvested.
G → Grapes (Variety)
Spot the grape variety (like Xynisteri).
L → Label (Winery Name)
Note the producer: the winery’s name.
E → Ethanol (ABV)
Find the alcohol by volume (ABV) on the label. This shows the wine’s strength.
You’ve just GOOGLED your wines — no internet needed! Now, when you pick up a bottle anywhere in the world, you’ll know how to read its story
